| I was at the Erie County Fair that night and remember Pauly doing that jump. He had a Monkey on his back or something? I also remember Bruce Stratton, Scott Sheak, and one other Really Fast NYer???? I would beat Eddy VanBallegooyen one week and he would beat me the next. We weren't that fast that's for sure. The thing I remember the most about that night at the Fair was the second moto of the Pro class. It started to rain (pretty hard) enough to stop the fast guys from jumping the jumps except for a few and Eddy!! He rocked that night and made like $800.00 (I heard) I think he got fourth place. He kept the hammer down and would barely clear the jumps lap after lap as it poured. Way to go Eddy. $800.00 for 4th????? |

| There have been a few Three time #1 Plate holders in WNYMA, but only one to earn it four times. In addition to that, he earned #2 atleast Three times maybe Four. He is a real Class Act and a Icon to our sport locally.?????? |

Everyone would love to earn the #1 Plate. It's a big Deal. I've heard "The Third Time's A Charm" and it was for these guys:
Billy Silvarole
Joe Ellington
Donny Schmidt
as a matter of fact- this guy EARNED it Four Times!!

Nice Job Donny!!!!!!!!!! |

Nice Job Don!
Hey Tire Pimp how about Mike Bender or Dave Heitzhaus? or are they too old for this post LOL!!
Have to say this is the best post I have seen on the Board!!
Hey all you AM riders better watch out Tim Becht is coming back to Motocross! (I even saw Oscar DeJac Lurking around at A51 GP this past fall). I think he holds the most AM points in WNY Motocorss history!
Kurt Holzer was at NEMX on a friday a cpl weeks ago and looking fast as usual.

Hey Shock, they need to be included too! Donnie's good people and deserving of those plates.
I knew Mike Robinson had three #1 plates and some #2's, plus a dirt track #1 plate one year (back when WNYSC was a big, all inclusive, multi faceted MOTORCYCLE community, hmmm...)a few speedway championships, a Jack Pine national enduro win,I believe some local enduro wins and a bunch of hare scrambles. He's got some stories and is happy to tell 'em....ask him about the commercial for the tux shop. |

Palmyra Racing Association tried something different the past couple years with their Annual Grand Prix. This race has not been on Sunday, that way it doesn't interfere with anyone's schedule. Great Race by the way!! Something I would like to see along the same lines would be a race that is kept in the "Results Archives" each year kind of like your TOP TEN EXPERTS. The Format would resemble a National Race. Two Classes: Mini's and Big Bikes. 40 man gates. Archived each year as WNY's "40 Fastest Race" Say just for example 100 Big Bikes Signed up. (any skill level allowed) You might make 4 heat races taking the top 9 riders directly to the Main and a Last chance taking 4 riders. The # of Qualifiers would depend on # of entries. Everyone would be guaranteed a minimum of two motos and some as many as 4. I am talking two motos for the main event. I think this could be a real nice event. Of course someone would have to seed the riders, that way the fastest guys would not all be in the same Qualifier!! Is this Idea possible - and if it is, would you enter. I definitely would if it wasn't on Sunday.
Mike Robinson - Sorry I didn't list you among my "Three Times" list. Like I said, I'm ignorant. Thank you Tirepimp for the heads up!! |

Actually we forgot someone that you may not even know, JIM RENZI he is from Eden, NY my home town and in the late 60's early 70's was Grand National No. 2, back in the day when to get a National Number you had to race Scrambles (Motocross), Enduro, Trails and Road Race. His time as a racer was cut short when the year after he scored the number 2 plate his bike Hydoplaned when he hit a water puddle on a Street bike and was paralized from mid chest down.
He and his wife have a business that they sell Arrows etc. for Hare Scrambles and Enduros to this day. His son John was one of my best friends all thru school. Jim is still a Big supporter of Dirt Track and Speedway and he and his family all attends Daytona every year for bike week.

Put the name to the Number. (My top 20) 387 287 554 531 510 706 23 12 210 749 615 801 203 72 missing 6 numbers. No top 100 national numbers allowed. Remember I traded Matt Herman for Bob Kiniry. If you're perfect, you'll have 20 names with 20 numbers.
Example: 813-Bart Lucas (If you didn't recognize that #, you don't stand a chance) |
