Hey Dave. You are the only guy here that understands what will eventually happen. I agree with the class suggestion's you put forth, and I looked on the CNYMA site for classes and was very surprised to see the non points beginner classes. That didn' exist in our day.Maybe in D3 they are experiencing low turnouts and trying to increase their income by offering those classes. People should know how to ride a bike before they enter a race,C B & A classes are all that's needed. Use AMA rules for advancement, they are already written. They could just implement them. There will always be riders that do what our son's did, that is move themselves up to the next class because they wanted to get faster, which our friend Ron always said,"just get faster".There are also riders that just want to win,as someone said. You brought up a very good point about the class structure, and I think the changes you suggest should seriously be considered by both groups.

I would like to hear from some beginners or novices that recently moved up.They are the ones with the biggest voice in this matter.Anyone that thinks you will get more laps in the other class's by eliminating the Beg. is barking up the wrong tree. You will be getting at least one if not two heat races along with Consi's. That alone will eat up the time you saved by dumping the beginners, if not actually add time to the program. To be fair to all who gets the extra lap if you somehow saved time? With the 23 class's you have left and 2 Min. 30 sec lap times the math says two maybe three class's could get a extra lap with no heats and consi's in the Novs taking place.

Your right goobs. Maybe we should add classes so everyone gets a trophy. Last I checked consi's and heats build competition. A,B,C has worked for years all across the country. In WNY people might as well have A to Z that way we could have 3 day events and even old goobs could get a ribbon. I would run open beer drinker C and my kid could run 65G or H. Raise the bar and level of competition not lower it!

All good thoughts, but the system that is in place has moved my son up pretty fast. Spring of 07 we bought a 2004 YZ 125 he got a lot of help from Joe C, Nick B, and many others. June of 07 we traded it in for KXF 250 and he started racing. By the end of the summer series Terry came to him and told him he had to go to Novice. 2008 he ran novice till the fall series and they told him he had to go to AM class. He is there now and getting close to getting pushed up to Expert. I think that has been a good pace. If people are going to play games what is going to stop them? If you make some rules saying points and wins, that's fine but when you only have 2 kids in an AM class and the rule is you have to have 3 wins to move up law of averages say you will get the wins. And move up. Maybe done on a scale of lap times. If an Expert runs a 2:11 lap time and a Novice is running a 2:13 where should they go.
Don we saw Nicky at the track he looks good maybe we will stop and see you on the way to FL next spring.

That's one of my points...the AM class has too few riders. Some will advance to Expert way before they are ready. By redistributing the Beg/Nov/Am riders to only Nov/Am...the AM gates will be fuller, the cream of the crop will rise to the top and advancement will be slower and well earned when it happens.

I used to race Beg and now I race Nov and both of those classes have a tons of sandbaggers in them. Last year at can-am in novice the top 5 were crazy fast kids like kyle jackson. I think Beg you should only need like 60 to get promoted because there is alot of good riders in Beg who might race both clubs (wnyr/wnyma) and if they race a bit of both they could be winning for a while before having to move up. I think novice should lower the promo points to mabye 120. They also need to enforce the promotion rules better i have seen a few kids get promoted to novice then a month later they sign up for Beg and try to get away with it and they would have gotten away with it if they werent protested by one of my friends who noticed.
