The race report! Finally! Hundreds of you have been waiting anxiously for it. Ok, maybe tens. OK, so maybe one person asked me about it. Anyways, here it is. Finally.

The boy and I headed up to Palmyra in the motor home to catch the MotoOption HogWild weekend on Saturday evening. As I was heading through the village of Palmyra, envisioning on how I was going to win all of my motos the next day, I suddenly realized I was bearing down on a small compact car stopped trying to make a left hand turn. It was coming up fast, too fast. I slammed on the motor home brakes, and with all six tires locked up, started skidding towards the car. I would have crushed it like a bug if I hit it, but it made the turn just in time, as I slid into the space it occupied milliseconds earlier.

The 50 people or so standing in line at the ice cream stand near where it happened were all standing there with huge eyes. I gave them the thumbs up and continued onward. My son yells saying that what just happened was way cool, and could we do it again. Um, no.

We finally got to Hogback Hill, just in time for the freestyle show. It was really good. There were three guys busting out some serious tricks. The bad thing about it is that it made me feel very inadequate about my jumping prowess.

After the show, my son and I walked around a bit, talking to friends, rode bikes, and then settled down for the night.

I like trains. Just not at night though. It seemed like a train went through every half hour from 10:00pm until 7:00am the next morning. Tired sigh. And the motor home was on about a 45 degree angle. I noticed this once I lay down to go to sleep. Tired sigh. I slept horribly, but the boy enjoyed it, so it made it all worthwhile.

OK, on to race day. I signed up for +40 Masters and Sr. B, the two most competitive classes offered by WNYRacing.
+40 was the second or 3rd moto in the order. I went 6/4 for 4th overall, out of 9 riders. In the first moto, I had a good battle going with Bart but I started to fade and I got arm pump on the last lap. WTF? In the second moto, I felt better and paced myself bit, making sure I could go the whole distance, and I got 4th.

Sr. B was in the middle of the order. I went 5/5 for 6th overall, out of 9 riders. Stupid moto math worked against me, and I got passed on the last lap. WTF again?!

I am going to blame my mediocre mid-pack performances on eating and drinking crap while on vacation the Wednesday through Saturday before the Sunday race, and the lousy night’s sleep. I also need to eat more bananas on race day. And I need to spend more time in the gym and pounding out laps, especially if I want to go pro someday. My dream is still alive, is yours?

Besides being disappointed with myself, it was a great day of racing. The track was excellent, the day went smoothly, and I really like a double-double right out of a corner that was put in. Nice job, PRA!
